Who Handles Vegetation Management?

Trees and vegetation growing too close to power lines can create safety hazards and contribute to power outages. Electric utilities across Texas perform vegetation management and tree trimming near power lines to help maintain safe electrical clearances and reliable service.

Frontier Utilities provides this information to help customers understand how to request vegetation management services from their local electric utility provider.

In Texas’ deregulated electricity market, Frontier Utilities is a Retail Electric Provider (REP). We supply electricity plans and customer service.

However, the Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) in your area is responsible for:

  1. Maintaining power lines and electric infrastructure

  2. Tree trimming and vegetation management near power lines

  3. Responding to vegetation-related service requests

  4. Maintaining safe clearance around electrical equipment

Utilities perform routine vegetation maintenance because trees and limbs near power lines are one of the most common causes of power outages.

If you notice vegetation growing too close to power lines, you should contact your local electric utility provider.
