On August 12, 2024, Frontier Utilities Northeast LLC (Frontier Utilities) acquired Approved Energy II, LLC’s (Approved Energy) natural gas supply business. Frontier Utilities will now be the natural gas supplier for Approved Energy’s retail natural gas customers. The acquisition has no impact to our customers’ current service. Frontier Utilities will continue to provide superior customer service throughout the length of their agreement.

By transitioning to Frontier Utilities, our customers will have the opportunity to leverage the full suite of capabilities of our organization, which include renewables, efficiency solutions and an established track record of implementing those solutions effectively and efficiently.

We are in the process of transitioning Approved Energy’s natural gas customers in PSEG and PECO services areas to Frontier Utilities. Our goal is to make the process as easy as possible to our customers.

You will receive a notification from Approved Energy regarding Frontier Utilities’ acquisition of your contract. Our customers in Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) and PECO service areas will be served by Frontier Utilities, while our New York and New Jersey (NJNG) customers will be served by NextEra Energy Services brand.  Click here  if you’re in New York or New Jersey (NJNG service area).

Customers in the PSEG service areas should have received a notice in August. Those customers will receive their first Frontier Utilities invoice in October 2024. You will need to create a new account on our Customer Portal.

Why was Approved Energy’s retail gas book acquired by Frontier Utilities?

NextEra Energy, parent company of Frontier Utilities, has been in the retail energy supply business for more than 20 years and serving residential and large business customers in more than 15 deregulated states. The depth and breadth of our solution offerings in the supply and renewables space allows our customers to rethink their energy strategy to achieve enterprise optimization. We are proud to be part of the NextEra Energy family of companies, the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun and a world leader in battery storage.

Will contracting with Frontier Utilities impact my current agreement with Approved Energy?

There is no impact to customers who are currently being supplied by Approved Energy. The contract will remain unchanged, and NextEra Energy Services will continue to provide superior customer service throughout the length of the agreement.

Frontier Utilities does not intend to change any core business models and will always represent our customers’ interests in working to deliver the best energy solutions.

If a customer’s renewal takes place during the transition period, we will continue to provide competitive pricing. We assure you that you will continue to get competitive prices and high levels of service working with us.

Will my billing remain the same?

Yes, if you receive your gas bills from your utility.
If you receive your bill from Approved Energy, you will start receiving your gas bills from Frontier Utilities.  The timing on when your service will transition to Frontier Utilities will depend on your utility service area. Before we switch your service to Frontier Utilities, you will receive a notification letter from Approved Energy.

For those in the PSEG service area, you should have received a notification letter on August 12, 2024. Frontier Utilities will start providing your natural gas supply starting on October 1st, and you will receive you first invoice from us later that month.

You will have the option to send checks to our new P.O. Box or pay online.

To pay online, create a new account on our Customer Portal at frontier.esgglobal.net/. You will need your new account number as it appears on your Frontier Utilities bill, the email address that matches our record and the first five digits of your billing zip code. Click on this link for the instructions on how to create your account.
