Title: Analyst Billing and Transaction Services, Retail Operations
Reports to: Manager, Retail Operations, Billing and Transaction Services
Job Summary:
This position will be processing day to day operational and billing functions for residential, small commercial and CSA customer types. Analyst works with cross-functional teams - pricing, sales, customer service, and finance to research and resolve system, billing and customer inquiries.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Interact with utilities (TDSP), third party EDI carriers and other REPs to ensure data synchronization and timely action on customer account transactions.
- Attend to issues related to meter data transactions, identify billing errors and apply adjustments as required.
- Research and resolve market transaction data issues and maintain data integrity with external and internal information systems to ensure efficient and accurate processing.
- Working knowledge to resolve Marke-Trak issues with ERCOT.
- Follow established business processes, identify areas of improvement, and suggest solutions for resolving system-related issues.
- Adhere to all market and regulatory guidelines.
- Act as the main point of contact to research and resolve billing disputes and provide timely resolution on any issues.
- Constantly review and analyze the AR Aging report and follow through with customers and engage the appropriate internal groups to take appropriate action when aged balances are not paid in full.
- Implement new measures to improve quality control process for outgoing invoices.
- Prepare monthly detailed analysis on billed revenues for the month, including Volumetric Analysis, Invoice vs. Accrual Analysis, LDC Balancing, etc.
- Monitor changes to billing determinants and incorporate into billing process.
- Perform accounting functions and reconciliations as needed.
- Provide data collection and reporting assistance during internal and external audits.
- Train new team members and constantly review the training materials to ensure these documents are updated and relevant.
- Deliver complete, accurate analysis on complex issues with minimal supervision on customer related issues, and propose appropriate course of action to the impacted internal and external parties
- Provide detailed supporting documentation on any P&L swings or adjustments needed if there is a significant variance between forecasted vs. actual billed revenue.
Technical Requirements:
- Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills are critical, as well as a solid foundation with the MS Office Suite, and more specifically Excel.
- Qualified candidates will have a degree in accounting, finance, economics, business or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
- The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a solid understanding of electricity and natural gas markets and deal flow with 2+ years’ experience.
- High attention to detail.
- Exceptional problem solving skills, taking ownership and follow-through to resolution.
